
Matt Walsh
Matt was hired as an Assistant Golf Professional at Kaanapali in November 2006, after working at Troon Country Club (
Scottsdale, AZ
) 2005-06, Eastward Ho! Country Club (Chatham, MA) 2005 and Twin Hills Country Club (
Coventry, CT
) 1994.
Prior to passing his Playing Ability Test and being accepted into the PGA/PGM program, Walsh worked in professional football for over 10 years. Beginning in 1995 with the Connecticut Coyotes of the Arena Football League, he later joined the New England Patriots of the National Football League, where he served primarily as a Scouting and Video Assistant from 1996-2003 and was responsible for visiting and evaluating players at 64 colleges and universities throughout New England and
New York
. Walsh was with the team during two Super Bowls and was awarded a ring after Super Bowl XXXVI. He then went on to spend one year with the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe before re-entering the golf industry.
After an All-State and All-Conference high school playing career, Matt went on to play golf collegiately at Springfield (MA) College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in sports management. Upon graduation, he trained with the United States National Bobsled team in
Lake Placid, NY
along with working in professional hockey for two seasons.
