Luc McLeod’s Golf Tip of the Month: Putting with Perfect Pace
When your putting goes south, what's the first fundamental to try and improve? Restore good rhythm to your stroke.
Here's a simple cadence to practice. When you make a stroke, think per-fect pace—three syllables. It's like a pendulum ticking two beats to one. When you take the putter back, think per-fect. When you swing the putter through, think pace. Whether your stroke is long or short, the rhythm should stay the same every time.
Using this cadence will help you strike the ball solidly, and smoothly. It helps eliminate any jerky or abrupt motions that can affect ball speed or the orientation of the putterface at impact, especially on longer putts. You won't feel like you need extra effort to get the ball to the hole.
One more piece of advice: Instead of worrying about the importance of making a putt, shift your thoughts to how you're going to do it. Focus on the process, not the outcome.
Mark Your Calendars: Greens Aerification - September 25th & 26th
Sept. 26th - The Back 9 will be open on regular unaerified greens, while we aerify the Front 9. Play 18 holes by playing the back 9 twice.
Sept. 27th - The Front 9 will be open on aerified regular greens while we aerify the Back 9. Play 18 holes by playing the front 9 twice.

(Mon) Twilight Rate All Day ($24 + tax)* Back 9 only on greens not yet aerified
(Tue) Super Twilight Rate All Day ($16 + tax)* Front 9 only on aerified greens
(Wed) Twilight Rate All Day ($24 + tax)* All 18 holes on aerified greens
Greens aerification will be done at both our City of Everett golf courses during the month of September as at most facilities in the pacific northwest. The aerification of our greens are good for their health and helps ensure quality playing conditions through-out the year.

Fall Tee and Fairway Aerification
Green surrounds Tees and Fairways will also be aerified in September. This is good for the health turf in the summer and keeps our tees and fairways dry in the winter.Greens surrounds and Tees may be done before greens are aerified. Fairway aerification is done a few holes at a time after greens have been aerified and results in little disruption of play.
When the fairway and green surrounds are aerified, if your ball ends up in one of the holes where an aerification core was pulled out you may take relief (lift, clean & place) for no penalty within one club length, no closer to the hole.
Christmas and Holiday Party Bookings
It’s still summer, but inquiries are starting to come in for Holiday & Christmas party bookings. The Legion Memorial Clubhouse will be fully decorated by Thanksgiving time and offers full service banquet facilities with food and beverage options that will please most parties, weddings and groups.
