GSGA Membership – Remember to Renew!
A new year also means the start of a new membership year with the Georgia State Golf Association. If you are a GSGA member through a public or semi-private club, just visit your home club professional to renew for 2012 and make sure your records are up-to-date. Georgia Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Coming Up  
The 2012 Georgia Golf Hall of Fame induction banquet takes place Saturday, January 21 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek. The 2012 class of inductees includes Richard Crawford, Vicki Goetze-Ackerman, Alfred "Tup" Holmes and Gene Sauers.


Don't miss out on a special celebration of golf in Georgia! A limited number of seats remain for the evening's festivities. Individual tickets for the banquet and induction ceremony are $125, and tables of 10 are available for $1,250.  Purchase tickets online at

Registration Open for 2012 Rules Workshop
The 2012 GSGA/Georgia PGA Rules and Tournament Administration Workshop is set for Tuesday, February 14 at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek. Come and enjoy a full day workshop (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) on both the Rules of Golf and Tournament Administration. The workshop will be taught by some of Georgia’s most experienced tournament administrators and PGA Professionals. The cost is $60/person, which includes continental breakfast, lunch, 2012-2015 Rules of Golf book, Rules Test, and other handouts. Register online by February 7.


GSGA RewardLinks: "The Art of Golf" Exhibit at the High
Explore 400 years of golf through paintings, drawings, and photos, with more than 85 works from artists as diverse as Rembrandt, Andy Warhol and Norman Rockwell. "The Art of Golf," coming to Atlanta's High Musuem from February 5-June 24, is the first-ever exhibition devoted to the game by a major American art museum. The exhibit will feature paintings from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, as well as the largest collection of Bobby Jones portraits ever assembled.

Handicap Seminar Slated for Savannah
A USGA representative will be conducting our first handicap seminar on Tuesday, February 28 at Wilmington Island Club in Savannah. Visit
www.usga.org to register by February 14. Under the Handicapping menu, select Handicap Education, then USGA Handicap Seminars. The cost is $40. This seminar is open to handicap committee members, club employees and club members. PGA professionals will receive 5 MSR credits for their attendance.


Yates Scholarships Available for Club Employees
The GSGA Foundation's Yates Scholarship Program annually provides educational assistance to GSGA Member Club employees or dependents of employees.  If you know of employees at your club who will be attending college – or have children attending college – in 2012-13, please encourage them to apply for a Yates Scholarship. Visit the GSGA Foundation's website at

GSGA Foundation Annual Fund Drive Underway
Please consider "chipping in" for the scholars as the GSGA Foundation's Annual Fund Drive is still in progress. If you believe in the values of golf, education, and in helping others, we would appreciate your considering a tax-deductible gift of $50 or more to the GSGA Foundation. 2012 GSGA Member Play Days
Enjoy a day on the links with fellow GSGA members! A dozen GSGA Member Play Days are scheduled for 2012. For a low entry fee of $45, enjoy a non-competitive round of golf at one of our GSGA Member Golf Clubs. Fee includes a round of golf, cart, range, closest to the hole prizes and one complimentary drink ticket. Take advantage of your GSGA membership to play some fantastic golf courses. The GSGA Junior Sectional Program is preparing for its 39th season! Funds raised through the license tag program will help support Georgia PGA Foundation’s free services and resources that are provided to all junior golfers in the state of Georgia.

Do you want to enter a golf tournament in Georgia, but not sure where to start? Searching for golf events/outings in your area? The lists of competitions for men, women and juniors are continuously updated and contain the information you need to enter an open event in Georgia – dates, sites, contact information and websites.
