Golf

Members,

Season is finally upon us! We are very excited to roll out the new tournaments and events here at TPC Treviso Bay. Our month long golf school will also be starting in January, and follow each month through April. Full event and clinic schedules can be found along with this newsletter. One event we are very excited to introduce and would like to fill is the Treviso Cup. This event is a 2 person team event, with both a Men’s and Women’s division. With this being a season long event, sign-up is required in the golf shop. The deadline for sign-up is January 14th, in which we will then randomly set the bracket, and the competition will begin. For more details on this or any event, please see the posted event details in the golf shop or contact us at (239) 331-2052.

I would also like to bring to the attention to all of our golfers about a certain area of importance with our practice range. We are continuously seeing divot patters on the driving range that are damaging the teeing area for others, or are prohibiting proper growth at an efficient rate. Please see the picture below as well as the message that follows for the proper range etiquette:

On the left, you will see scattered divots. Scattering divots is a popular practice habit that is frequently taught because it does not create large voids in the turf that are slow to recover, but it removes the most turf in total because a full divot is taken with every shot. On the right shows a concentrated divot pattern. Concentrating divots in one area is arguably the worst practice method because it creates large voids requiring the most time for turf recovery. Instead, we want to strive for the middle type, the linear divot pattern. For this method, you would place each shot directly behind the previous divot, and work your way backwards. The linear divot method can easily be repeated for up to 15 shots or more, resulting in much less turf being removed with each successive swing. We ask that all of our members take note of this and strive to work a linear divot pattern into your practice regimen.

Further details on upcoming events at Treviso Bay will continuously be communicated throughout the season. If there are any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at the golf shop. We look forward to seeing all of you in the new year and to our best season yet!

Kindest Regards,
