Fall Aerification

As most courses do in the fall, West Seattle Golf Course plans to aerify and sand the greens on Tuesday, September 23rd.  We expect to use temporary greens on Tuesday the 23rd and Wednesday the 24th.  If the application goes well, you will see the greens rebound back to normal in 10-14 days. We often get the question, "Why do you aerify the greens?" West Seattle GC annually entertains 60,000 rounds of golf per year. Under this kind of foot traffic the soil will compact so severely that water, nutrients and oxygen cannot penetrate the turf layer. The process of aerating the greens and filling the holes with sand relieves this stress on the turf and allows it to breathe and feed. It is a standard maintenance practice that all golf courses do in the spring and fall to promote good healthy putting surfaces during the play season.

West Seattle Golf Club / Bellevue Golf Club Senior Inter-Club Matches

Great news to report - West Seattle Golf Club had no mercy with the visiting 'Bellevue Golf Club' during the annual Senior Matches. With a dominant performance by the WSGC team of 30 guys (15 Two-person teams) they embarrassed the 'eastsiders' by a score of 10.5 to 4.5. The cup officially comes back home to rest in our trophy case for a year (below: Head Golf Professional Colin Gants from West Seattle GC receives the cup from Troy Rodvold who captained the team from Bellevue.
