Parking Improvements
After years of construction, the VA hospital finally opened its 1000 car parking garage, and not a moment too soon. Already, Jefferson is seeing a significant improvement in parking availability along Beacon Avenue. The VA has a new PTSD treatment facility still under construction that will continue to affect parking, but otherwise the days of “no parking” anywhere are over.
New Cart Barn
The Jefferson power cart fleet has a new home. The big green tent is open for business. Finished last month, the carts are now securely tucked away each night out of the rain and cold. We will be adding some additional amenities to the facility (such as a wash station and fuel tank) that will allow us to provide the best possible cart service to our golfers. Also look forward to the new back tee on #1 as we begin rebuilding it this month.
12th Hole Tree Removal and Green Reshaping
Many of the poplar trees that bordered the right side of the12th hole had to be removed recently. Tree health and safety concerns dictated the removal. Consequently, the protection they provided has been reduced significantly. As the impact is assessed, all the tees will be played far forward to minimize ball trespass. We appreciate your cooperation during this time.
The 12th green has experienced a little cosmetic surgery this winter. Drainage was added for better winter play. On the left side of the hole, several trees were removed and the green was expanded. The right edge of the green will be reduced and the area to the right of the green will be made into a lateral hazard. Golfers will soon discover that favoring the left side will be the only way to play the hole.
Beacon Grill Draft Beer for the Course
The Beacon grill will be offering draft beer for the course with our new to-go pitchers. Golfers will be able to choose from any one of our eight tap handles of domestic and micro selections.
