The Pelican Pointe Relay For Life Team started in 2002 with a group of 15 golfers all touched by cancer. That first year they raised $3,245. The initial group of 15 volunteers is now up to over 550 energetic volunteers who make our team one of the best in the state! What a tribute to our community and the generosity of the people who live here. Thank you! This year we dedicated our year to our fearless leader, Sue Lord Allen, who after an incredible fight sadly lost her battle to cancer. The end of the year results are now in. Drum roll please! Thanks to all of you our Garage Sale set a new record earning $35,112 in spite of hosting it outside in tents! We were thrilled to again have over 1,250 people from surrounding communities attend! Thanks to the Century Club participants and the Pickleball Calendar we added another $19,653 to our team earnings! The Golf Tournament earned another $65,555 with the Ball Drop raising $6,590, the Auctions raising $13,985, Golf/Dinner raising $12,340 and Sponsors adding $32,640! Including some miscellaneous earnings, our Pelican Pointe team total for 2023 is $120,853! When you consider this all happened post COVID, what an incredible achievement! Pelican Pointe is a very charitable community. Since the inception of our team in 2002, we have now raised $1,440,359 to help fund the American Cancer Society mission to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer!
